hi, I’m jenna.
I’m a writer and chaplain.
Chaplains do this thing called bearing witness—we sit with people in their pain, listen deeply, and stay present to their stories and spiritual journeys without trying to fix what can’t be fixed or rush what must be lived.
My writing grows out of that same posture: a desire to understand and honor the journey, with all its joy and pain, and to honor the dignity of people.
bearing witness through Writing
Each chapter of my chaplaincy has shaped my writing. I explore moral complexity, grief, healing, and what it means to show up for one another.
My essays have appeared in The New York Times, Wayfare, Deseret Magazine, and Deseret News. I share some thoughts here.
the secular the religious the spiritual the skeptic
Chaplains provide spiritual care for people from all backgrounds.
During my training at Harvard, and while working in hospital, prison, and military settings, I have found purpose in bearing witness to pain, to resilience, and to the messy holiness of being human.
